Hermit Crabs make great low maintenance pets!They are also very entertaining animals;they can climb,dig,and
hold on to your shirt with their claws as you walk.Hermit Crabs eat their normal Hermit Crab pelitsbut they also eat
fresh fruits and veggies.They also drink water you can give them small sponges or just some water.Taming your crab is pretty
easy...hold your hand open and let them crawl;the more they are played with the better!They will not pinch you if you pick
the up by the back part of their shell.If you do get pinched by a crab and it donesn't let go ,run quickly to a water faucet
and run a small amount of water over him and he will let go!Hermit Crabs may look scary but the
are harmless.Hermit carbs molt.I know you are wondering what that is well the carb's real shell or exoskeleton does not grow
as the soft tissues under it grow.Land hermit crabs atually grow by shedding their exoskeleton. A new one is costantly being
developed underneath the old one.Every few months the old exoskeleton will be molted or shed and thern discarded or eaten.During
this molting period the crab will grow back any missing legs and probably look for a place to hide.The crab may decide to
burrow into the substrate of it's cage during molting because it is defenseless at this time and is quite vulnerable to predators;
it also dries out quickly.If your crab is hiding, it should not be diturbed, and it might be better to remove other crabs
from it's terrarium for a week or two. The new exoskeleton will fully harden in five to ten days.
